Holy crap,you did! [Art is never finished only abandoned]

My thoughts about the episode!

As usual I've watched the episode later than all of you so I've also missed all the discussion group and I'm sure all the polemic!I was spoilerfree but I had a feeling that my show would have left me with a huge lump in my throat!On the contrary it made me feel quiet,so quiet it's kind of scary,but it's not a bad thing 'cause it means I have so many thoughts in my head I can't find a way to put them together in a review!
I have not much to say about the episode in general,I liked the writing and I really loved the directing,and the boys looked better than usual;clearly I've decided to talk about the eps because of that final scene between Sam and Dean!
I want to start this "thinkings" list with a question:have you ever been angry with someone that you physically couldn't stop the stream of words coming out of your mouth?I think deep inside we ALL are capable of thinking cruel and mean things,and we also feel ashamed of ourselves for that;this doesn't mean we're monsters.
Dean's reaction was pretty much predictable,he needs to know that his brother trusts him,to take care of Sammy,to "literally" hold him back but not because Sam is his little puppet and he doesn't care about his opinions,he just want to keep him safe,with all the good intentions!On the other side Sam is exactly like his father,stubborn and obstinate and driven,he's never been Dean's shadow,yes...he looked up to his brother since he was four,but he is also the one who left for college,who chose to be more what HE wanted to be and not who his father wanted him to be!In After School Special Mr Wyatt tells Sam he has potential and he can make his own choices,does this mean that Sam is only trying to tell Dean he is ready to face Lillith,that it's his priority and he doesn't want obstacles standing in the way?Meaning Dean who's obviously fragile and want to be everywhere but near that demon!
Since John's death they both changed so we should stop pretending our boys are still the same of season 1 and 2,this is a dynamic show,the characters grow and with them their relationships and perspectives!I don't know if my thoughts make sense to you and maybe what I've said is something you already knew,but right now I think there are so many things to talk about,so many questions!This is good right?Means our show still make us feel excited!

In conclusion I don't have negative feelings about what happened between Sam and Dean,of course it breaks my heart seeing how much Sammy's words could have hurt Dean (when he wants ...he can hit hard,and I'm not talking about punches!) and of course we are scared about the idea of them not being all brotherly brothers,but we have to see things like part of the big scary picture Kripke is creating ok?

On a shallow note...enjoy the pretty pictures from the episode!

1.Dean is the only human who looks smoking hot when he wakes up!
2.Can you imagine waking up near "something" with that face?

-I worry that the boys WILL be pitted against each other. I'm not sure it will be something that is black & white or that it would even last long but that thought is just there.
-I tend to hold things in but if I didn't then i pretty sure there would be a whole lot of nasties flying out of my mouth. instead I take things out on objects :/
-I have faith in Kripke and will continue to enjoy the ride!

Oh yeah,the red thing surely means something,just like all the details you will see everytime you re-watch the episode!Show is so subtle!♥

-We all worry about that,but as you said....we should trust Kripke (not too much!LOL),I'm sure he has a plan!The problem is that Spn fans are very "demanding" fans!:P
-Holding things in is not always healthy for us but very often it's the right thing to do!In this case was the spell but I'm sure sooner or later the boys would have exploded!

Oh man, I love this post. You basically said it for me and yes, I really think Sam is getting as driven to find Lilith that killed Dean as John was to find the thing that killed Mary. I think Dean IS holding him back to an extent, but as you said, Dean's only worried about what might become of Sam when using these powers whom belong to evol. Sam could think that he's doing it for good, but truth is we don't know what the consequences are. *pets boys* I'M SO SCARED FOR THEM.

I agree, but I just miss their relationship so much :( Now they're so distanced from eachother (and understandable under circumstances), not trusting/confiding in eachother anymore and it can only get worse. I just hope for them to sort it all out and let their bond become stronger as ever.

Obviously we love Sam,we look at him and YES,he's changed,but he is always Sammy....we forget about the demon blood and the consequences of his choices,maybe he is the only one who can stop Lillith but Dean knows his brother (points to icon,those two really are a thorn in his side!Poor baby!) and knows that if he won't hold him back there will be nasty consequences!This doesn't mean Dean didn't make mistakes,sometimes he doesn't listen to his bro....
What a mess uh!?!?!?But I can't wait to see what happens!And I need to talk about this situation,there's so much going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly my thoughts. the comparision between John and Sam is perfect. And Dean only wants him out of harm's way. ((((BOYS))). It hurts watching them like this, but we have to wait and see what's in store for them. I trust Kripke :)

I thihnk that in this lies the truth of who Sam is. He's a very complex person - like Dean, and as messed-up as Dean is.

YES!This is why I'm angry when I read always the same thing about "Sam and Dean in season1 were better" or "I don't like they're changing"!As I said,it's perfectly normal to be different right now and the boys are two different and complex individuals,they are brothers but they think and "feel" different....ok,I've said different 10 times but you know what I mean!:P

Oh YEAH! I had to blink rapidly just to make sure your picspam didn't burn my retinas. :P Show had a similar effect on my retinas. (The poor things). It was so awesome. Your views are pretty much identical to mine. They've changed so much since not only season one but season three too. And we all know what was going on between season three and season four. Dean was in Hell. Sam was Dean-less and with Ruby (who I think, even though she saved him, has somewhat of a negative effect on him. I mean, come on, she wants him to do some unspeakable thing to save the world. She doesn't really care about what effect said thing has on Sam... ).
Sam in this episode was soo very similar to John. The way he said "kiddo" to Dean and the way he sort of sent Dean on his way to the club with Nick. You know, keeping him busy so he could hook up with Cara, which is pretty much what John did when he went on his hunt for the YED. He sent Dean on a hunt and disappeared, right? I was getting John vibes too.
Also, those things Sam said to Dean when he was under Nick's influence are things I think come across Sam's mind but he doesn't really believe. Meg (while she was possessing Sam) and the crossroads demon (when Sam was trying to get Dean out of Hell) both said similar things. That Dean was weak. That Sam would be better off without him. But like you said, we all think things like this. And we know Sam didn't mean it because he was the one who asked Dean is they were okay in the last scene.
Dean, however, said things that were fairly true IMO. That Sam had changed etc.
It was a harsh show. Hard to watch. The kind that leaves you ripping your hair out and wondering WHATISHAPPENING!?

So I'm going to stop talking now. I'm sorry for chewing your ears, or rather your eyes out. :D Thanks for the picspam!

P.S: I just wanted to add that I LOVE Sam AND Dean AND Ruby and these are just my views. I'm not... bashing them. Or anything like that. :) OKTHXBYE!

I agree,after season 3 everything's changed for them,they can't pretend they are going to be ok like the old times you know?And Ruby will never be a good company for Sam,even if she helped me in some way...she is a demon!But Sammy is stubborn,he will do what he thinks is right and Dean can't stop him!I just hope that sooner or later (meaning this season or the next one) they will find each others again,not like in season 1,that's impossible,but like brothers do!;D

great job! i love your analysis for the last scene. it was heartbreaking... i really feel as though this episode and after school special were extremely deep and it seems as though the show - specifically - sam is about to take a gigantic left turn... these two eps. have been building towards something big that can't be too far down the road (i'm more or less spoiler free so i dunno what that is exactly).

I'm like super late I just noticed this. But besides the obviously shallow because what girl wouldn't want Dean to wake up next to. Mmm. This episode at the end kind of broke me a little. In a way it's worse than Dean crying.
